The pandemic has given the courts a lot of work: almost 2,000 civil lawsuits had to be conducted because of Corona.
It was also often about the controversial measures to restrict.
Munich - The administrative courts in Bavaria are still busy with numerous corona proceedings - the pandemic has caused the courts extensive work in the form of processes.
The procedures relating to the pandemic alone currently account for around eight percent of cases in the five administrative courts - including in Munich - while at the Administrative Court (VGH) it is around 15 percent, said Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) on Thursday With.
Since 2020 - i.e. with the beginning of the corona pandemic and the associated restrictions - many complex legal issues have had to be decided on this, which often had far-reaching consequences and were not undisputed.
The settlement of disputed matters was often done in an expedited procedure.
Munich: The main issues in court were economic aid and the right to assembly
The judges are busy with questions about the Corona care bonus, economic aid or the right of assembly and with a focus on procedures for Corona measures.
These included exit and contact restrictions, mask requirements and operational restrictions, Herrmann explained.
The Administrative Court has repeatedly decided in summary proceedings on the validity of statutory ordinances relating to the corona pandemic.
Corona: Almost 2000 procedures for the pandemic were conducted in Bavaria
Herrmann was satisfied with the “completed record” since the beginning of the pandemic: “By the end of 2021, 1,080 of the 1,100 administrative courts and 910 of the 980 administrative courts had completed summary proceedings.”
Other important tasks of the administrative courts are asylum procedures.
Last year, almost 11,400 new arrivals were registered - significantly fewer than at the peak of the influx of migrants: between 2015 and 2017 the number of asylum procedures rose from almost 11,000 a year to 55,860.
Since 2015, the administrative courts in Bavaria have settled 145,305 asylum procedures.
Around 16,000 asylum procedures are still open.
