"Hartz and cordial": Elvis has a special kind of encounter. A furry little animal runs towards the father of eight children.

The four-legged friend already has a name.

For five years, the RTLZWEI viewers have been following the life of the barracks residents in the cult social documentary "Hartz und Herzen"*.

The district in Mannheim, which is now well-known throughout Germany, is home to TV favorites such as Elvis and Katrin, Janine and the now deceased Dagmar*.

The show ruthlessly shows real life between a sense of community, money worries and great emotions.

The cult barracker Elvis likes to share the special moments of his life with the viewers in front of the home screen.

His extended family gets a new furry roommate.

MANNHEIM24* reports on this.

But not everyone is enthusiastic about the four-legged friend "Schnucki":

"Hartz and cordial" in the Benz barracks: Animal additions to Elvis' extended family

Elvis is an absolute animal lover.

The father of eight already has a few pets, but he's never had one like this before.

In the 55th episode of "Hartz and cordially - day by day Benz barracks", the viewer's favorite brought home a rat, which now lives with him in the "quiet corner".

However, her inclusion as a sixth pet was anything but planned.

But the still young rat has already found a place in his heart - it goes by the name "Schnucki".

He found "Schnucki" quite by accident, as he reveals on the show: "I ride my bike like this - suddenly Schnucki runs in front of my bike and I think to myself: Oh, something white".

It was immediately clear to the cult inhabitant that the fur ball had to be a white rat.

"The tail was too small for a mouse," he reveals in the 55th episode of "Hartz and heartily - day after day Benz barracks".

However, Elvis' new pet has an unusual trait that he couldn't immediately identify.

"Hartz and warm": Elvis Ratte has suffered a serious injury - "The poor thing"

When he held "Schnucki" in his hands for the first time, the animal-loving Barackler was shocked.

"Schnucki" is missing an ear!

Elvis broods feverishly about what may have happened to his new darling in the 55th episode of the social documentary.

"Was it a cat or any other animal that attacked you or wanted to eat you?" wonders the father of eight.

He carefully transported the little rat to his home.

A home for "Schnucki" was quickly found: "Marina von Nebendran gave me her terrarium," reveals Elvis in the social documentary on RTLZWEI.

The neighbors' suggestions to feed the rat to a snake deeply shock the viewer's favorite - it's not in the bag for him!

Elvis feels sorry for the animal and keeps emphasizing that she has already survived an injury to her ear.

He couldn't feed "the poor beast" to any other animal.

"Hartz and warm": Elvis lovingly takes care of the injured rat - "It will be here..."

"Schnucki" is a "survivor".

He would love to keep her in his house forever, but the family cats don't seem entirely happy with these plans.

"The cats usually lie [in the terrarium] in the evening and absolutely don't want to get close to the Schnucki - that's clear," reveals Elvis in the TV show.

But as long as the little one-eared rat lives in his care, nothing will happen to it.

"They want to eat them.

That won't happen here," reveals the cult barrackler.

Elvis summarizes: "Everything is healing, she is fine, she has food and drink and a home".

Even if Elvis's extended family is animal-loving, Katrin is not quite as happy about the furry growth: "I'll wait and see how long [Schnucki] is quartered in our living room," she reveals in the social documentary.
