There was a great deal of confusion following the Finance Committee's recent budget meeting.

The members agreed to push other projects in favor of the ice rink or to cancel them entirely.

Fürstenfeldbruck – But there was no cost center for the desired project in the draft budget.

This should now be set up before the vote on the budget next Tuesday, as the CSU announced in a press release.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.

Andreas Lohde writes that 7.9 million euros can be used for the ice rink project.

Planning costs of 50,000 euros have been set for this year.

For the difficult year 2023, the FDP and CSU did not want to set a sum.

But now they are following a suggestion by Christian Götz (BBV) to provide another 50,000 euros for planning and expert reports.

In 2024 there should be three million euros and in 2025 4.9 million euros in the budget - knowing full well that the amount for the construction of the ice rink is not sufficient, says Lohde.

Assuming a slimmed-down concept, as in Burgau with 3800 square meters, the ice rink will cost at least 11.4 million euros.

The Greens, who would rather work with realistic numbers, are warning of this, according to Lohde.

Issue: financial oversight

The problem: If twelve million euros are distributed by 2025, there is a risk that the financial supervisory authority will issue a budget consolidation order.

For this reason, the CSU and FDP have submitted an amendment to approve the budget with the “ice rink” cost center in the city council meeting.

"The mark has been made, but the big homework remains - both in terms of the construction costs of the hall that have not yet been covered and in terms of operation," says Lohde.

Finance officer Klaus Wollenberg (FDP) is confident that the clubs will develop a viable operating concept that will help to clearly limit the annual deficit through club commitment.
