When a tree may be felled in Neufahrn is regulated by the tree protection ordinance of the municipality.

The content should now be adjusted.

Neufahrn

– Trees and shrubs are among the most valuable natural elements inside and outside of towns and villages.

They structure settlement areas, enliven townscapes and landscapes, are habitat and foraging habitat for numerous animal species and have positive effects on our climate.

"Trees are indispensable in the local areas as shade providers and pollutant filters and will play an increasingly important role," says a press release from the Neufahrn municipality.

To protect the trees in the local areas, the municipality issued its first tree protection ordinance as early as 1974, making it one of the pioneers in Bavaria.

Updates were incorporated in 1988, 1994 and most recently in 2003, bringing the ordinance up to date.

After almost 20 years, the ordinance was getting old again.

Even the development of settlements over the past two decades has gone beyond the old ordinance.

A new, up-to-date tree protection ordinance has now been drawn up by the environmental office of the municipality of Neufahrn.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

In accordance with the municipal tree protection ordinance, all trees with a trunk circumference of 60 centimeters or more are protected.

This means that these trees may not be removed, destroyed or altered without the permission of the municipality.

The purpose of the Tree Protection Ordinance is to protect and preserve trees.

The aim of the new ordinance is to ensure appropriate inner-city greening.

This also contributes to improving the microclimate.

The efficiency of the natural balance is maintained or optimized, and harmful environmental impacts can be reduced.

Last but not least, the street and townscape of the community will also experience a revitalization.

In this context, it is also important for the municipal environmental agency

Raising public awareness of the need for sustainable use of trees and shrubs.

After all, adequate greening always has a positive effect on the quality of life of the local people.

Careful treatment of the tree population worthy of protection is also important during construction measures.

Unnecessary interventions and impairments must be avoided in the planning phase and, if necessary, tree protection measures must be proactively initiated for the construction phase.

The new enactment of the Tree Protection Ordinance is on the agenda of the municipal council meeting on February 21.

Further information about trees and tree protection as well as the wording of the new ordinance and its scope can be found on the municipal website at www.neufahrn.de.
