It's done: The Tölzer Alpine Club section has found new tenants for the Tölzer Hütte on the Schafreuter.

Working on the mountain will be a new experience for the new landlords.

Lenggries – There is still snow on the Tölzer Hütte on the Schafreuter in the Karwendel, but preparations for the new season are already underway.

The new innkeepers Mathias Petter (39) and Miriam Däubler (38) will take on this task with immediate effect.

The two have now signed the lease agreement with the Alpine Club: "We are ready for the new challenge," says Petter.

Most recently, the two ran the "Garni Petter" in Kappl in Tyrol

The new innkeeper is a trained carpenter, waiter and restaurant specialist.

At the Tölzer Hütte he mainly wants to take care of the guests and the "bureaucracy", says the 39-year-old, who comes from Ellwangen in the Allgäu.

His partner Miriam Däubler went to home economics school and will work as a cook in the hut.

Most recently, the two ran the "Garni Petter" in Kappl, a municipality in the Tyrolean Paznaun with 2500 inhabitants.

The idea of taking over a mountain hut came about in conversations with hut landlords, says Petter.

He sent out various applications, including for the Steinseehütte in the Lechtal Alps.

Ultimately, he was awarded the contract for the Tölzer Hütte.

The Tyrolean admits that he was not familiar with his new place of work, “because I know the Silvretta area better”.

The tenants look forward to the new task “with great respect”.

Of course, running a mountain hut is “something completely different” than running a bed and breakfast, he admits.

He therefore looks forward to the new task with "great respect, but also highly motivated".

He hopes to convince several regulars to visit him on the mountain.

He wants to continue to run the Garni in the winter when operations at the Tölzer Hütte are suspended.

Happy about the signing of the contract: Benedikt Hirschmann (Chairman of the Tölz Alpine Club section, left), Max Nonl (Hüttenwart, right) and the new tenants Miriam Däubler and Mathias Petter.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.

At the moment he is primarily concerned with finding suppliers.

He also has to think about the new prices: “There is simply a spirit of optimism.” If everything goes according to plan, the Tölzer Hütte should reopen in mid-May: “First and foremost, I want to give our guests unforgettable moments.

The location up there is just gorgeous.”

Section invested 1.4 million euros in the modernization of the hut

The club accommodation of the Tölz Alpine Club section, built in 1924, has been extensively modernized over the past two years, as reported.

The south-facing extension including the foundation showed damage that could not be repaired during ongoing operations.

The substance of the old building with the gastronomic area was also damaged.

The extensive conversion measures costing around 1.4 million euros also included the installation of a new kitchen, the redesign of the lounges for the employees and the implementation of fire protection regulations.

If you want to stay the night, you can choose between dormitories, multi-bed and twin rooms.

A total of 73 overnight accommodations are available.

There are no showers in the alpine accommodation house.
