Moisten her skin before applying three different moisturizers in a row to her face, like piling the ingredients of a sandwich on top of each other.

A technique recommended by beauty experts on TikTok and Instagram, in particular by Charlotte Palermino, American beautician and founder of the cosmetics brand Dieux Skincare.

In a video posted on her social networks, the specialist claims to practice it regularly in winter to face the freezing New York temperatures.

The “sandwich” method, step by step

After having thoroughly cleaned your face, you must moisten it either with tap water, or with a spray of thermal water or even with a moisturizing mist.

If we are to believe the tutorial, this step is essential because it promotes the penetration of active ingredients into the skin, and therefore boosts their effectiveness.

Next: apply your usual face serum, followed by your moisturizer.

The driest skin can finish by adding a layer of occlusive product (such as a repairing balm based on petroleum jelly or lanolin).

This last phase is rather recommended in the evening, given its thick and sticky texture (moreover, it is contraindicated for acne-prone skin, due to its potential comedogenic character).

Ideal for dehydrated skin, this final “slice” of the sandwich acts as a protective filter that fights against water loss in the skin tissues.

As for the beauty products to use, Charlotte Palermino recommends favoring gentle, moisturizing and restorative formulas (for example based on ceramides or hyaluronic acid.) On the other hand, she firmly proscribes the use of retinol, which could be be particularly irritating in this specific case.
