A truck driver was actively sought Friday February 18 after his semi-trailer fell from a bridge spanning the Rhône near Avignon in the early morning, said the firefighters of Gard.

The heavyweight coming from the Gard and heading towards the Bouches-du-Rhône "
crossed the guardrail of the bridge
" connecting the municipalities of Aramon and Barbentane, according to a press release from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Gard (Sdis).

The truck is almost completely submerged and only a piece of the trailer remains visible.
The driver has not yet been found
