Austria, Italy, Switzerland - what currently applies when entering popular holiday countries

It's happening in quick succession: many holiday countries in Europe have relaxed their corona measures.

Many popular holiday countries such as Austria, Italy and Switzerland have decided to relax the corona rules.
What travelers now have to consider when on vacation.
In Europe, many countries are relaxing the corona measures – the background is usually the low hospital occupancy compared to the high incidences.
We have summarized the current rules of some states for you.
Holidays in Austria: Gradual easing in the next few weeks
Austria is in the middle of implementing a three-stage easing plan.
Phase 3 will start on February
19th : Then
only the 3G rule
will apply instead of the 2G rule
in cable cars, gastronomy, accommodation facilities, physical services, in sports facilities and at events .
The curfew was previously moved from 10 p.m. to midnight.
The FFP2 mask requirement still applies in closed rooms.
From March
5th,
however, there will be further easing: The Austrian government has decided to drop all access rules, upper limits for persons and the curfew on this date.
The
night gastronomy
should finally be allowed to open again.
The mask requirement should continue to apply in essential trade, i.e. in supermarkets, banks and pharmacies, and on public transport.
In all other closed rooms, wearing the
FFP2 mask
is then only recommended.
With regard to the
entry requirements for Austria
, there should be relaxation on February 22nd.
Instead of the previous 2G plus rule and the quarantine requirement for unvaccinated people, only 3G proof will then be required.

Vacation in Italy: Here things have been relaxed – and which Corona rules still apply
In Italy, the obligation to
wear masks outdoors recently fell
, indoors it is to be phased out on March 31st.
Nightclubs
have been open again since February 11 – but only for visitors with proof of vaccination or recovery.
For access to restaurants, hotels, leisure facilities or ski areas, visitors must present the so-called "Green Passport", which serves as
3G proof
.
Documents in digital and paper format issued within the EU are also equivalent to this passport.
Proof of vaccination, recovery or negative tests is also required to
enter
Italy .
A PCR test should not be older than 72 hours, a rapid antigen test not older than 48 hours.
In addition, the Italian entry form must be filled out.
Children under the age of six are exempt from the obligation to provide proof.
Switzerland abolishes almost all corona measures
Switzerland heralded "Freedom Day" on February 17 - i.e. almost all corona measures were lifted.
Proof of vaccination or proof of health is no
longer required to access restaurants, shops or leisure facilities
.
Even with private meetings there are no longer any restrictions.
The
mask requirement
, which was introduced in summer 2020, has been abolished in almost all shops and indoor areas.
From now on, mouth and nose protection will only be needed in public transport and for staff in health facilities.
If the corona situation in Switzerland continues to develop positively, the mask requirement could be completely eliminated by April 1st.
As far as
entry into Switzerland
is concerned, holidaymakers no longer have to provide 3G proof - it is no longer necessary to fill out the entry form.
This means that tourists no longer have to pay attention to anything when entering the country.

Spain is also relaxing – what applies to holidays
In Spain, wearing masks outdoors was recently dropped.
The Balearic Islands have also
prematurely abolished the 3G access regulation for bars, restaurants, gyms and cinemas
.
The following applies to entry: All
travelers
aged 12 and over need proof of vaccination, recovery or negative tests.
The validity of the vaccination certificate was reduced from 360 to 270 days on February 1st.
After that, a booster vaccination is required in order to be allowed to keep the status as "vaccinated".
Anyone entering the country with a test must also ensure that it is valid: PCR tests may be no more than 72 hours old, rapid antigen tests no more than 24 hours.
In addition, people arriving by air or sea must fill out the Spanish immigration form.
