The "God Teammates" Behind the Interests Combined with Professional Athletes
IVE graduate Leon has loved all kinds of sports since he was a child. He enjoys constantly challenging himself on the track and field and football field. He has always liked to study improving physical fitness and competition strategies to improve the performance of himself and his teammates.
Based on his passion for sports, he applied for the Higher Diploma in Sports Coaching at IVE, and then connected to the bachelor's degree program at THEi High Technology Academy, majoring in sports therapy. He is currently working as an assistant fitness coach in a sports training institution.
Leon's work mainly develops and provides tailor-made physical training plans for Hong Kong full-time athletes to improve athletes' physical performance such as muscle strength, explosive power, cardiorespiratory endurance, reaction time, etc., so that they can perform at their best in competition.
Leon has trained for many elite athletes, including members of the Hong Kong National Team who participated in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. He was able to provide the strongest support behind the scenes, helping Hong Kong athletes set foot on the international stage, giving him an unparalleled sense of satisfaction.
Project-based teaching applies what has been learned in the classroom
"When I was studying for the Higher Diploma at IVE, I was given an internship at an international sports event. I experienced the preparations for large-scale competitions and witnessed the process of athletes competing, which inspired my interest in sports training and sports therapy." IVE's project-based teaching (project -based learning) also lets Leon apply what he has learned.
"IVE's teachers come from different sports fields. They share industry information and personal experience in the classroom from time to time. We use real cases through project training to design suitable training programs for different subjects."
Smart sports technology enhances sports performance
After completing the Higher Diploma, Leon saw the importance of sports therapy to athletes and chose to study for the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sports and Recreation Management at THEi High School, majoring in Sports Therapy.
From IVE to THEi High-tech Institute, Leon has learned comprehensive and practical sports knowledge, and has the opportunity to learn about innovative sports technology equipment.
He pointed out: "With the advancement of technology, in order to improve the physical fitness and skills of athletes, in addition to diligent training, we also use a large number of technological equipment to help athletes improve their performance, such as the use of force plates and Vicon optical motion capture system. It can accurately measure the athlete's strength, torque, force position, etc., and optical cameras can also capture the athlete's posture, so as to analyze their performance in a targeted manner, so as to formulate a more effective training plan."
Digitization of Engineering Industry Increases Efficiency with Technological Knowledge
Another graduate of the IVE Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Felix Chan, has been interested in mathematics and science since he was a child. He established his goal of becoming an engineer during his higher diploma studies, and then progressed to the Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering at THEi. He is now working as a trainee structural engineer in a multinational engineering consulting company, integrating what he has learned in the classroom with his work and entering the professional field of engineering.
Felix is currently mainly responsible for the design of building structures and has been involved in residential, commercial and public projects.
With the digitization of the industry, new technologies such as "Design for Fabrication" (DfMA) are increasingly adopted in the engineering field - for example, construction companies will prefabricate building components in factories and complete the assembly at the construction site to improve construction efficiency and quality.
Felix will carefully calculate the building structure, and then analyze the materials and strength of each building component to ensure the safety of the entire building structure and construction process.
"Looking at a building from a plane draft, after precise calculation, a 3D building information model is established, and the careful structural design of the building, such as stone pillars, walls, beams, etc., is presented in a virtual picture. Felix believes that IVE's Higher Diploma course has laid a solid foundation for entering the workplace: "The IVE course focuses on practical combat, allowing me to master the professional knowledge and technology of civil engineering. The teacher provides us with different engineering cases for practice, learning engineering design and calculation, I use data to analyze the components required for building structures, calculate materials and structural mechanics, and teach a variety of technologies that are widely used in the industry, such as building information modeling (BIM) for digitizing building projects and computer software for producing engineering drawings.
