The Lexus NX is unrecognizable.

Admittedly, the lines have retained the sharp angles but minimal styling changes and a few centimeters more in wheelbase and width are enough to make it more balanced and more elegant.

The revolution continues inside with completely redesigned ergonomics closer to current standards.

The driver will be flattered in so many respects.

The driving position is treated like a cockpit.

The top-of-the-range version gets a 14-inch driver-oriented multimedia touchscreen.

Navigating through the menus is child's play.

In an effort to simplify, engineers have removed 33 physical buttons (45), but the instrument cluster is still disturbed by a multitude of icons and managing its favorite functions on the head-up display via the captive buttons on the steering wheel requires a certain habit.

The new NX is still a keen eye for detail: multi-contour seats, satisfactory rear space and headroom, an electronic button in place of the handle, a large central armrest.

Nearly 70 km in electric

Progress is finally measured on the road.

The NX is the first Lexus plug-in hybrid.

The technology comes from the Toyota Rav4.

Its 18.1 kWh battery allowed us to cover 68 km on electric.

Lexus advertises up to 98 km in the city.

A feat.

This earned him to claim record sobriety: 1 l/100 km.

A value that is difficult to reproduce in real life, except to coast and recharge very often.

The computer oscillates between 7 and 8 l/100 km, depending on the pace of driving.

The continuously variable transmission succeeds in limiting the racing of the 4-cylinder and, with the electric machines, the performances are of an excellent level (0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 s).
