Gauting - The municipality of Gauting is taking part in the "Mobile Phone Action Bavaria" in favor of "Mission EineWelt" and calls for old cell phones to be taken out of the drawer and into the collection boxes.
This also serves to protect the environment.
The collection boxes are in the community library, in the Evang.-Luth.
You can find them in the rectory, in Öko und Fair, in the Eine-Welt-Shop in Gauting and in the EKP parent-child program in Stockdorf.
"As a Fairtrade community, we are committed to sustainable action and, by taking part in the campaign, we would like to raise awareness of the more conscious use of raw materials," says Gauting's mayor, Dr.
Brigitte Koessinger.
Mobile phones are recycled or reused
The cell phones collected are professionally recycled in cooperation with Telekom or sold on the second-hand market.
For safety reasons, only mobile phones and smartphones without batteries, chargers or other additional devices may be handed in.
Loose rechargeable batteries and devices with rechargeable batteries should only be disposed of in brick-and-mortar stores or recycling depots.
Proceeds for educational projects in Liberia, El Salvador and Bavaria
The proceeds from mobile phone recycling benefit educational projects via “Mission EineWelt” and the “One World Network Bavaria” in Liberia, El Salvador and Bavaria.
