The cost of building a program of six new-generation EPR2 nuclear reactors is estimated at 51.7 billion euros, excluding financing costs, to which 4.6 billion would be added in the event of difficulty in implementation, indicates a government audit published on Friday.

The commissioning of the first EPR2 is “planned for 2037”, adds the audit, referring to “a total construction period of nearly 25 years, for a reactor operating period estimated by EDF at 60 years at from their entry into service".
