Pushed out by the junta in power in Bamako, France and its allies formalized this Thursday morning the military withdrawal from Mali.
Between 2,500 and 3,000 French soldiers will however remain in the Sahel after the withdrawal from Mali which could take six months, the French general staff confirmed in the process.
Mali is asking France this Friday to withdraw its soldiers "without delay".
The junta believes that the results of nine years of French engagement are “not satisfactory”.
