Spring Festival Holzkirchen is canceled again this year

The Holzkirchner Spring Festival is canceled for the third time in a row this year.

Corona still does not allow safe planning, say the organizers of the Holzkirchen music train.

Holzkirchen – The people of Holzkirchen will not be able to celebrate a spring festival at the Herdergarten in 2022 either.

"Unfortunately, there is the same clear answer again," says third chairman Marco Keller of our newspaper when asked.

"The spring festival will not take place this year either." If the festival were to fall in July or August, the music group would probably have started the concrete planning.

An appointment in May is too early for the organizers.

Despite the first easing and signs of relaxation, planning security is not enough for the music train this year either, says Keller.

If, shortly before the festival, a new wave, such as a 2G rule for festival tents, washes into the district, the music train can hardly cope: Even the controls at the entrance are hardly feasible for the club in terms of personnel.

In addition, there is financial uncertainty if many people suddenly stay at home.

The music train could not afford that.

"If we put up a marquee, we have to fill it up, or it tears a hole in the club's treasury."

As reported, the spring festival had already been canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to Corona.

If the music train had announced a double celebration for 2021 after the first cancellation, the organizers remained more cautious after the second failure.

Now the hope remains for the fourfold celebration in the coming year.

Keller: "We hope to be able to hold a festival completely without restrictions in 2023."

Of course, no one on the music train was happy about the renewed cancellation, says Keller.

On the one hand, the members would have liked to have organized the festival and given the people of Holzkirch a reason to celebrate.

"We really want to do it, but the risk is just too great at the moment."

On the other hand, with the spring festival, the financially most important pillar of the music train, important income is now being lost for the third year in a row.

"We don't have to beg anyone, but we don't have billions in our accounts either," says Keller.

The club can still cope with the failure.

In the long run, however, he could not do without the festival.

"If it goes on like this for ten years, we will have big problems."

In order to compensate for the failures, the music train wants to offer one or more smaller replacement events later in the year.

Keller could imagine a morning pint in summer or autumn.

Although it brings in significantly less revenue, it is easier, quicker and less risky to organize than a big party.

He also offers the music train another chance to present itself as an association.

The problems eventually start up again.
