Artificial intelligence and robotics: This is what the "Technology Campus" in Bad Tölz should look like

"A real enrichment for the region": Project developer Hannspeter Schubert is planning three buildings on the B 13 on the outskirts of Bad Tölz, in which innovative companies will settle.

It is to become a forward-looking company location with a university connection: the investor has now presented its plans for the "Technology Campus" in Bad Tölz.

- The first concrete step has been taken: With the funding commitment of 6.9 million euros as start-up funding from the state, the establishment of the university location "Tizio" in Bad Tölz is done.

However, the branch office of the Munich University of Applied Sciences will only be one component of a planned "technology campus" on the B 13.

Project developer Hannspeter Schubert has now announced details of the plans.

As a result, three buildings are planned in which a number of innovative companies will find their home.

Construction of the first house is expected to begin later this year.

Bad Tölz is to become a location for artificial intelligence and robotics

The basic idea behind the "Technology Campus Bad Tölz": Science and business should work closely together on the 25,000 square meter area south of the Sitec company.

For the first tenant, “Tizio” (“Transfer and Innovation Center in the Oberland”), Schubert and his company, Holzkirchen-based “Technologie Park Tölz GmbH”, will first construct a building.

The city and the district pay the rent for the first five years, after that – if an interim evaluation is positive – the Free State.

The university would like to focus on research on the topics of "innovative production and recyclable materials" and "management and tourism".

“Innovative companies and institutions for which the proximity to the university offers important synergies and opportunities for exchange” are to “step by step” settle on the slope-like property, explains Norbert Baumgärtner, who is responsible for media work on the “Technology Campus”.

Artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, robotics and sustainable tourism are planned as focal areas.

Established technology companies could be considered, as could newly founded companies, start-ups or outsourced companies from the university sector.

In his own words, investor Schubert attaches great importance to “a positive corporate culture and value-based corporate ethics” when selecting his tenants.

Baumgärtner explains that there are already interested parties when asked.

However, concrete negotiations would only begin once the planning phase had been completed.

The companies are to be spread over a total of 12,000 square meters of floor space in the three planned buildings.

How many companies are accommodated here depends on how much space the individual tenants require.

In any case, "clean and emission-free production with production-related offices for research and development" is planned here, according to Baumgärtner.

Shared lecture rooms and IT landscapes

In addition, the investor is planning premises for "central services" that are available to all companies on the "campus": such as common and event areas, central workshops, lecture rooms, IT landscapes or catering options.

"We are well aware of the high value and the location of the site," emphasizes Schubert.

He promises to "ensure with a variety of measures that the site develops positively and becomes a real enrichment for the region".

According to him, this includes innovative architecture as well as "generous outdoor and green areas that optimally integrate the location into its surroundings".

It is built according to the environmentally and climate-friendly KfW 40 standard.

The heat is to be supplied via the nearby biomass heating plant.

The investor is convinced that the "Technology Campus" will be both a "strong stimulus for the city of Bad Tölz and a technology network for the entire Oberland and thus a project of supra-regional importance".

"High-quality jobs will be created here" and "urgently needed skilled workers and specialists will be kept in the region".

Schubert expects the companies that settle here to be “not only a benefit for the region and the employees from an economic and ecological point of view, but also from a social point of view, for example through an attractive combination of life and work”.
