German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stressed the need to use all diplomatic channels to settle differences with Russia, pointing out in this regard the readiness of Western countries to conduct negotiations with Moscow on security issues, in reference to the tension between the West and Russia over the situation in southeastern Ukraine.
And the media quoted Scholz as saying in press statements to him today that “adopting as much diplomacy as possible is our goal,” noting that to do this, all channels of negotiation with Russia are used.
The German chancellor also stressed that the issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO is not on the agenda in the foreseeable future.
The two republics of Lugansk and Donetsk in southeastern Ukraine announced earlier today the continuation of violations by the Ukrainian forces of the Donbass region with weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements, while the authorities in both countries continued to evacuate their citizens to Russia.
