The corona measures are to be relaxed.

The majority of Germans support this. However, only a minority is in favor of a “Freedom Day”.

Berlin – In the coming weeks, the federal and state governments want to significantly defuse the current corona measures.

From March 20th, many of the rules that are currently in force will no longer apply.

A survey by the opinion research institute Civey for

Spiegel

has now shown that the majority of Germans welcome these planned easing.

According to the survey, 70 percent of people also support the plan to abolish 2G entry controls in retail in the future.

Only 23 percent think this decision is wrong.

The mask requirement should continue to apply in retail.

FFP2 masks are recommended and are still mandatory in some federal states.

Opening of clubs and discotheques: only 55 percent of Germans support this plan

According to the Civey survey, the planned easing of restrictions for hotels and restaurants is also supported by a large part of the population.

69 percent of Germans think it is right that the 3G rule (i.e. access also for those who have currently tested negative) will apply again in these areas from March 4th.

Only 20 percent spoke out against this regulation.

It looks a little different in connection with the planned rules for clubs and discotheques: These are to be reopened under 2G-plus regulations.

Only around 55 percent of people think this is correct.

31 percent of Germans reject this regulation.

According to the current plans, the maximum limit for outdoor events is to be raised to 25,000 visitors and for indoor events to 6000 visitors or a maximum occupancy of 60 percent.

End of many Corona measures: "Freedom Day" is rejected by the majority

However, the majority of Germans believe that the end of most corona measures on March 20 should not be celebrated on a large scale in the form of a "Freedom Day".

The FDP in particular supports the idea of celebrating the abolition of many measures with a “Freedom Day”, as in other countries.

However, 71 percent of the population voted against and only 20 percent are in favour.

Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD) rejects the term and the idea of a "Freedom Day".

In the ARD program

Maischberger.

The week

he said on Wednesday evening that this term was inappropriate.

Because there will also be people in the future, such as older people, for whom the vaccinations don't work so well and who accordingly never have "really full freedom".

The chairman of the German Foundation for Patient Protection, Eugen Brysch, also criticized the demands for a “Freedom Day” to the

editorial network Germany

as “liberal activism”.
