The coastal missile systems of the Russian Black Sea Fleet (Bal and Bastion) were trained to defend Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory from groups of ships of a hypothetical enemy in the course of the exercises.

“The crews of the Bal and Bastion coastal missile systems of the Black Sea Fleet conducted an exercise to defend the territory of the Crimea and the Caucasus coast in case of the threat of missile strikes from groups of hypothetical enemy ships from the Black Sea,” Sputnik news agency quoted the Fleet Information Support Department as saying.

The administration added, "The crews of the missile systems marched to the designated locations, deployed launchers, and detected, identified and tracked surface targets," noting that the fleet's ships acted as a virtual enemy as electronic missiles were launched at the targets.

More than 500 soldiers and about 50 pieces of equipment participated in the exercises.
