The Land Reclamation Projects Branch and the Development of Fruitful Afforestation in Daraa set within its plan for the current year the reclamation of 300 hectares of land for the benefit of farmers in different regions of the governorate.
The director of the branch, Eng. Khaled Al-Khaled, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the current year’s plan is to reclaim 100 hectares for afforestation operations and 200 hectares for planting crops, indicating that the work areas are distributed in the towns of Ghabagib, Al-Hara, Jassem, Deir Al-Adas, Simlin, Zamrin, Inkhil and others, and start with the towns with the lowest rainfall.
Al-Khaled added that the purpose of reclamation is to expand the area of agricultural land and to include reclaimed lands in actual agricultural investment, indicating that the branch has a number of heavy machinery that are used in implementing the reclamation plan.
