"There needs to be a match between our metrics and the situation on the ground, and what we are projecting to the public and expecting from it," Bennett said at the cabinet hearing.
"In order to maintain the public's trust and ensure that the citizens of Israel implement the guidelines and decisions that the government makes, we must start when the situation improves - and it improves significantly."
Last Thursday, the Ministry of Health today recommended stopping institutional antigen testing starting March 1 and allowing PCR testing for the entire population.
This, during a discussion held by senior ministry officials with Prime Minister Bennett that day.
Even then, the ministry explained that the reason for the recommendation was the decrease in morbidity, which makes it possible to provide more reliable tests.
Also, due to the fact that the reliability of the tests decreases as the morbidity fades.
