"Hartz and cordial": The former Barackler Gudrun and Michael are struggling with their finances.

The salaries of the job center are suddenly lower than usual.

The RTLZWEI social documentary "Hartz und cordial"* draws many viewers in front of the television every week.

The fans are eagerly awaiting news of their favorites.

The residents of the Benz barracks are also well received on social media - TikToker Janine* in particular can look forward to many followers.

New episodes of the fourth season have been available since January 2022.

Of course, it is again about the everyday life of the Benz barracks residents and this mainly revolves around unemployment, planning for the future, family and money worries.

MANNHEIM24* reports on this.

Gudrun and Michael also share their lives with the viewers*, although they no longer live in the Benz barracks.

The couple now lives in downtown Mannheim, as Gudrun needs an apartment suitable for the disabled.

In the 56th episode of "Hartz und Herzen" the couple gets into financial difficulties.

“The employment office didn’t transfer enough money.

That's 120 euros that we're missing!" reveals Michael on the TV show.

"Hartz and warm": Michael is angry with the office - "I'm still waiting for the decision"

Gudrun and Michael are worried.

The spouses cannot explain why the office is cutting their funds.

The 59-year-old has already asked the job center what the lower salaries are all about.

"I don't know why and how we are missing the 120 euros.

I called right away and [the office] wanted to write me why - I'm still waiting for the decision," Gudrun's husband reveals on the show.

Normally, Michael would get 287 euros from Hartz IV, but now he's only been paid around 150 euros.

"That's a big difference!" says the ex-barackler with concern.

"Hartz and warm": Michael railed against the job center - "If you don't have the money..."

The lack of money has torn a small hole in the couple's household budget.

The 59-year-old hopes the change in payments won't last.

The couple seem optimistic that the sentence will not be cut again.

"It looks like the full sentence is coming back," reveals Gudrun's husband in the social documentary.

It was all a "bit stupid" and was clearly "noticeable" for the former barrack residents.

Since Gudrun's foot was amputated six years ago*, her and her husband Michael's life has largely taken place within their own four walls.

He is annoyed that he now lacks so much money: "If you don't have the money without writing, that's just shit," he railed against the office.

Michael had counted on being paid the entire rate.

"There is no notice of change - nothing at all!" the 59-year-old continues to scold.

"Hartz and cordial" in the Benz barracks: Michael and his wife Gudrun share government support

In addition to a small pension, Michael's wife Gudrun also receives basic security.

In addition, Michael also receives financial support for the care of his wife.

“It comes every month – the nursing allowance.

Because my wife needs care," the ex-barackler reveals in the 56th episode "Hartz and warmly".

From the 550 euros, Michael had to get his wife "care aids", such as "Pampers, ointments and everything that the health insurance company does not pay for," the 59-year-old continues.

He doesn't know how long the care allowance would last, but he estimates it to be around 14 days.

However, it is important for Michael: “No matter what money comes, whether care allowance or unemployment benefit, it belongs to US.

We are married.

That's ours!” (sik) *
