Pedestrian zone instead of one-way street?

Dachau – After the administrative court ruled against continuing a trial phase of the one-way street regulation in the old town (we reported), the alliance for Dachau is now demanding a pedestrian zone.

City councilor Michael Eisenmann wants the city to develop a concept for how the attractiveness of the old town can be improved with a pedestrian zone.

In particular, it is necessary to improve safety on the way to school, to improve pedestrian crossings, to improve accessibility of the old town by bicycle, to stop smuggling through the old town and to reduce noise pollution.

At the same time, the accessibility of the old town by car and public transport must remain guaranteed.

In the opinion of the Alliance for Dachau, all of these goals can be achieved with a pedestrian zone with transit options for public transport.

How a pedestrian zone can be designed should be clarified as part of the application.
