President Yitzhak Herzog will fly out on Thursday for state visits to Greece and Cyprus at the invitation of the presidents of the two countries.

The visits will take place ahead of the president's planned visit to Turkey, and are intended to convey a message about the importance of relations with the two countries despite the restoration of relations with Turkey.

Herzog will first fly to Greece and meet with President Katrina Sclaropolo, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, parliamentary speaker, opposition leader and representatives of the Jewish community. Maintain an alliance of stability in the Mediterranean.

"My state visits reflect the deep friendship between the peoples and our strategic partnership, which has been reflected, among other things, in the ongoing talks I have held since I began serving as president."

Herzog spoke about two weeks ago with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the possibility of holding an official meeting soon.

The conversation, the existence of which was exceptionally confirmed in an official statement from the President's House, took place against the background of Erdogan's attachment to Corona and Herzog's wishes for recovery.

"President Yitzhak Herzog spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and wished him health and complete health after being infected with Corona," the president's house said.

"The Turkish president thanked the president for his interest in his well-being. In their conversation, the two discussed the possibility that they would meet soon."

Erdogan unilaterally announced about a month ago that President Herzog would visit his country by mid-February.

He defined the planned visit as a "new page" to be opened by the two countries.

The announcement comes after Erdogan revealed at a press conference a week earlier that contacts were being held with Herzog on the matter.

This time too, as in the previous time, the President's House refused to comment.
