Today, the Ministry of Education inaugurated the Tishreen 6 School for Basic Education, a first cycle, in Barzeh neighborhood in Damascus, to be put into service immediately after being rehabilitated and equipped with a grant from the People's Republic of China.

The school, which accommodates about 420 students, consists of three floors, 22 classrooms, a laboratory, a room for psychological counseling, several administrative rooms, and a suite for teachers' accommodation, according to the Director of Damascus Education, Suleiman Al-Younes.

The opening included the screening of a documentary film on the damage suffered by schools in Syria as a result of terrorist attacks, especially the 6 Tishreen School in Barzeh, and the support provided by the Republic of China to rehabilitate it. The school students also presented paintings and dance performances to the tunes of Chinese songs, in addition to some physical exercises.

Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, praised, in a statement to SANA reporter, the support provided by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Damascus to restore and rehabilitate schools damaged by terrorism and the role of this support in developing the educational process and reducing overcrowding in surrounding schools.

Minister Tabbaa pointed out that the ministry started to localize education by securing accommodation for teachers and allocating a suite for their dormitory to ensure that they continue to work and reflect positively on the quality of the educational process.

The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Damascus, Feng Biao, expressed his happiness at his country's provision of grants to rehabilitate schools in Syria, stressing that the support is continuous and aims to develop education in the best way.
