In the video: Groom violently documents his bride (documentation on social networks)
A video showing a groom in Egypt beating his fiancée wearing a wedding dress before the ceremony began sparked a storm in the country.
Documentation from the city of Ismailia, apparently taken by a man from a nearby balcony, shows the man beating the woman and pulling her hair after she left the barbershop before getting into the car.
Despite the severe violence, the couple completed the wedding ceremony and later released a video in which the two said they had completed, and the man hugged his new wife.
The incident caused a stir on social media, with many calling for tougher laws against violence against women in the conservative Muslim state.
"Schools and universities need to be taught how (for women) to defend themselves," tweeted actress Sumia al-Hashab.
