The representative of the World Health Organization in Russia, Melita Voinovich, suggested that this year will witness the end of the pandemic of the emerging coronavirus, "Corona".
Voinovich said in an interview with the Russian Tass news agency: “After the omicron mutated, there will be no new waves of infection in the world, and this is what epidemiologists do not rule out,” noting at the same time that the stagnation of the pandemic does not mean the disappearance of the virus, which will retain the ability to mutate.
Voinovich pointed out that WHO experts do not expect the situation to develop, yet they note with cautious optimism that the waves of widespread virus outbreaks will stop when Omicron dominates in all regions of the globe.
Voinovich explained that the organization does not recommend lifting the restrictions imposed due to Corona, and that the Omicron mutant can cause a severe course of the disease, so all those within the risk group must be vaccinated.
The representative of the World Health Organization in Russia called for a lot of walking, taking vitamins, and not giving up wearing masks in public and closed places to maintain personal immunity in the winter and spring.
