A quiet residential street, which is also called the garden promenade, is not supposed to be traffic-calmed after all.

50 residents defend themselves against it with a list of signatures.

They also worry about their playing children.

Gauting - "Basically" there is "nothing to say" against the planned new development area Am Patchway-Anger with affordable living space, lots of greenery and a car-free mobility concept, emphasizes Dr.

Konrad von Nussbaum.

But the garden promenade, of all things, was thrown out of the traffic calming concept for the adjacent residential streets in the planning process.

50 affected residents - including von Nussbaum - are not enthusiastic about it.

She sent a list of signatures to City Hall.

"The name garden promenade says it all," emphasized resident Katrin Gerber at the appointment with Starnberger Merkur.

In fact: On Friday afternoon, children on their scooters or skateboards cruised through the residential street with green strips on both sides and a speed limit of 30. A single car drove through within 15 minutes - almost at walking pace.

But that's how idyllic it is, according to Dr.

Renate Kuckelkorn not always.

Because sat navs indicated an abbreviation via the garden promenade, large trucks would drive to the surrounding construction sites on weekdays from 6 a.m., although trucks weighing 7.5 tons or more were not allowed to drive there, said the 88-year-old.

The Gauting native speaks from experience – she has lived there for half a century.

The residents were pricked by the latest developments in the Am Patchway-Anger development area across the street.

The garden promenade was still included in the traffic calming concept during the citizens' dialogue at the town hall at the end of October.

Gerber, von Nussbaum and the third spokesman for the initiative, Wolfgang von Rhein, recall this in their letter.

It is addressed to Mayor Dr.

Brigitte Kössinger and all municipal councils.

According to the residents, the “constructive suggestions” for traffic calming on the adjacent residential streets, as well as Hiltlstraße and Hildegardstraße, also received “the highest number of points from supporters”.

But now the garden promenade can no longer be found in the plans.

"Worrying" is the planning.

Because “the entire control of car traffic” from the planned new development area opposite is planned via the garden promenade.

This is a one-sided burden, even though the new underground car park exit for 120 to 170 households is right across the street, as is the entrance to the supermarket, argues Gerber.

The garden promenade will thus become the "outlet" for traffic heading towards Munich via the A 96. "We want to maintain our quality of life in the residential area."

In the run-up to the building committee meeting on March 8 and the following traffic committee, they demand “an absolutely necessary traffic concept that is justifiable for the entire district” that also does justice to the “huge construction project in the immediate vicinity of the villa colony and distributes the traffic loads sensibly”.

The traffic concept will be taken up again as part of the land use planning, stressed City Hall spokesman Andreas Röming on request.

The Patchway-Anger construction project is an ongoing process.
