The Ministry of Communications and Technology announced today the launch of the third operator of Wafa Telecom, a private joint stock company, to operate public cellular communications in Syria.
The Minister of Communications and Technology, Eng. Iyad Al-Khatib, said in a press conference to announce the license of the third operator: We build on the launch of the third operator great hopes for improving the reality of cellular communications in Syria, especially after the damage to its infrastructure as a result of the terrorist war.
In turn, the Director General of the Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority, Eng. Manhal Junaidi, said: The third operator is allowed to work on local roaming on the two existing networks during the first and second years, pending the completion of his network.
