Foreign Minister Yair Lapid spoke today (Monday) during a meeting of the Yesh Atid faction in the Knesset and during his remarks addressed the emerging nuclear agreement with Iran and the advanced negotiations taking place in Vienna.
"A bad nuclear deal is about to be signed in Vienna," Lapid and Hussi stressed, "it's the same agreement that was signed in 2015, but then it restricted Iran from uranium enrichment to ten years. In the re-signing, they did not do one simple thing: they did not change the dates. "They left the expiration date of a large part of the restrictions on Iran in 2025. Another two and a half years. In two and a half years the restrictions on Iran will disappear. It will be able to put the advanced centrifuges back into operation. Enrich uranium for the bomb."
Apart from nuclear affairs, Foreign Minister Lapid lamented that Iran is also trying to blackmail other achievements.
"If that is not enough, Iran is asking the powers for a bonus on the agreement: abolishing the definition of the Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization. "A terrorist organization, so what are they? A folk dance class? The world can not agree to these rude conditions. It must not inject tens of billions of dollars into Iran, and let it continue to spread terror in the world."
At the same time, Lapid emphasized that although Israel is trying to influence the nuclear agreement with Iran, Israel is not subject to it and reserves complete freedom of action.
"Israel will continue to have a sharp and open dialogue with the US administration, as friends do, to make sure that this agreement is not the end of the verse. Even if it is signed, we will continue the fight against the Iranian nuclear and terrorism. Let it be clear: we are not subject to this agreement. "Keep it safe. We have a strong army, we have the Mossad, we have a determined government, we will not hesitate to act to prevent Iran from reaching its goal."
