Rural youth fighting for a new home

The already impressively large country youth Frieding is happy about 20 new members.

But she also fears that she will soon no longer have her own space.

"We are the largest rural youth club in all of Upper Bavaria," emphasized the old chairman and newly elected treasurer Valentin Schaumberger at the general meeting on Saturday - and feared that the 13 to 35 year olds would soon no longer have a club room.

"No one wants that," assured Andechs' Mayor Georg Scheitz on Sunday when asked by Starnberger Merkur.

20 new members introduced themselves to the approximately 70 attendees on Saturday.

"Our members come from the community of Andechs and far beyond," explained the new chairman, Alexander Wertatschnik.

The association looks back on 70 years.

Traditionally, he entertains the offspring with the pre-Christmas “We are waiting for the Christ Child”, while the parents festively prepare the living room.

And he has been organizing the Stadlfest for 30 years with more than 2500 guests from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Austria, which last took place in 2019.

Country youth hopes for help from former members of the municipal council

"Former board members of rural youth sit on the municipal council," reported Christian Pfänder.

The new third chairman sits there for the Bavarian party and fights for rural youth to continue to have a space.

It is currently housed in the old fire station.

We were talking about moving to the ground floor, there is more space than upstairs.

And the premises are barrier-free, but the escape routes in the attic are a problem.

However, the house at Widdersberger Strasse 14 urgently needs to be renovated, emphasized Pfänder.

"The pipes are ailing, the heating needs to be replaced and new, soundproof windows installed."

At the end of January, Wertatschnik submitted a statement to the community, which he now presented to the members.

In it, the old fire station is intended as a place to stay, as is the variant of adding a room to the new fire station on Scheuertalstrasse.

"We are willing to contribute a lot of our own work," says Wertatschnik.

However, a place to stay in the old fire station is in the balance, and a possible sale was also discussed during the budget consultations of the community.

Rural youth wants to present the concept to the Andechs municipal council on March 15th

Mayor Scheitz reassured that the tenants would not necessarily have to leave.

The rural youth will hardly be able to make a purchase offer, Corona has torn a hole in their coffers.

Scheitz sees your concept as a “good foundation on which to build”.

But he would have to know exactly how many square meters are needed for the lounge and storage and what the financial situation is.

"I look forward to having constructive discussions with the new board," said Scheitz.

Wertatschnik announced that the concept would be presented to the municipal council on March 15.

Tobias Bauert was also newly elected as Vice Chairman and Valentin Sedlmayr as Second Treasurer with a large majority.
