According to the German Weather Service (DWD), there is a red alert for all of 83 districts (as of 10:30 p.m.) in Germany.

Especially in Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse, large parts of the state are affected, the meteorologists expect hurricane-like gusts with speeds of around 110 km/h.

In Bavaria, too, 21 districts are affected by the warning from the weather service*.

"Since the series of storms began on Wednesday evening, a total of more than 6,000 kilometers of the route network have been unusable," said a spokesman for the railway company.

874 kilometers of railway lines are currently still affected by damage, he told the

For the coming hours and also for the rush hour tomorrow morning, the railway asks its passengers, especially in the north and north-east, to find out whether the journey will take place - or if possible to postpone it entirely, or to switch to other means of transport.

After storm "Zeynep", storm "Antonia" is in the starting blocks

At least three people lost their lives in Germany as a result of the storm “Zeynep”*.

According to an initial estimate, the storm caused insured damage of more than 900 million euros in Germany.

At the start of the weekend, “Zeynep” caused a storm surge in the north, rail traffic disruptions and accidents on the roads.

But there is no sign of calming down on Sunday evening and Monday either.

With storm "Antonia" the next storm is already in the starting blocks.

Accompanied by a cold front, it will move across Germany from the west from 9 p.m.

Meteorologists expect hurricane-force gusts of up to 115 km/h wind speed*, strong shows and thunderstorms.

"We have to get through the storm situation until Monday," explains a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach.

The situation remains tense on Monday morning.

The weather will then calm down over the course of Monday and by Tuesday at the latest.

In the meantime, at least the orange alert level applies throughout Germany for the evening and the upcoming night.

Many parts in western Germany are already marked in red.

For the Harz-Bergland district in Saxony-Anhalt, the experts are even warning of extreme gusts of wind of 120 km/h to 140 km/h.
