The PP and the PSOE of Castilla y León show their rupture after only 15 minutes of meeting between Mañueco and Tudanca

2022-02-21T20:15:26.107Z

The appointment to explore the possibilities for the investiture ends without an agreement between mutual reproaches and with the popular ones getting up when talking about corruption, according to the socialists

The round of contacts of the acting president of Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco (PP), in search of support for the investiture has begun without an agreement with the PSOE of Luis Tudanca, the first mentioned by the leader in search of allies that allow them govern.

Both leaders have reproached each other for their disagreements, with Mañueco calling his interlocutor a "puppet on the instructions of Pedro Sánchez" while Tudanca assured that the meeting, which barely lasted 15 minutes, has ended because the PP has gotten up from the table when the word “corruption” has been mentioned to him.

The 31 attorneys of the PP are not enough to govern and the party needs support.

The socialists of Luis Tudanca, with 28 seats, have offered their abstention to lay a cordon sanitaire that isolates the extreme right of Vox, which claims to enter the Board and occupy key command positions.

The PSOE's offer implies that the conservatives break any kind of pact with the ultras in the regional and national spheres, something that Mañueco, as a "stunned" Tudanca recounted, has refused, in the same way that he has not opposed a potential income of Vox in a future Executive.

The appointment lasted only 15 minutes, as the socialist leader explained, and ended when he told Mañueco: "One of the things that sets us apart is corruption."

Then, as the leader of the PSOE has assured, his interlocutor has responded: "I told you that if you talked about corruption we would get up from the table."

This has happened, although both have recognized that there were no "conditions" imposed.

The conservative leader has insisted on his willingness to govern alone and has not wanted to classify Vox, with whom he will meet on Wednesday, as an extreme right: “I am not here to judge political forces or people, my responsibility is a parliamentary and comparable program.

Today's dialogue has been disappointing."

Mañueco has also rejected the socialist offer of a “democratic cordon” to Vox, which implies breaking pacts throughout Spain, in exchange for the abstention of the main opposition party: “I don't know if the meeting lasted 15 minutes or half an hour. .. talking about the city hall of I don't know where or the community of I don't know which is irrelevant”.

Tudanca has confessed to being “stunned” by the attitude of his rival, and has accused him of blowing up “any possibility of a stable agreement”.

"I am convinced that they have already decided to agree with Vox," he said.

Likewise, he has censured the internal conflicts of the conservatives, divided between the national president of the party, Pablo Casado, and the autonomous leader of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and has pointed out that Mañueco followed partisan strategies when he anticipated the elections: “The PP, a party that was once moderate and in government, is destroying the institutional framework and altering the norms of coexistence inside and outside its party”.

The pressures towards the acting president for the formation of a government also emanate from his right.

Vox, with 13 representatives, demands to enter the Board in proportions similar to those that Ciudadanos, with 12 seats, did in 2019, when he held the vice presidency, 4 of 10 ministries and presided over the Cortes.

The president of the far-right formation, Santiago Abascal, assured after election night that his candidate, Juan García-Gallardo, was "putting on the face of a vice president", although over the days he has softened forms, and has presented himself as an ally prudent to sustain stability, but without blurring the background of touching power.

The meeting between Mañueco, García-Gallardo and their teams will be this Wednesday and after it Mañueco will be seen, the following days, with other minor formations, including Ciudadanos.

Mañueco: "The voter is outraged and disheartened"

The PP crisis has taken over part of the appearances and, faced with questions from the press, Mañueco has avoided making a firm statement on the future of his formation and those responsible.

"The voter is outraged and disheartened, they want a quick and effective solution that brings solutions and unity, the PP has been an instrument at the service of Spain", announced the acting president of Castilla y León, who has attributed responsibility to Casado to "fix the situation".

In addition, he has admitted that the leader of his ranks called him on Thursday and that he responded by sending him the "sense of discomfort" that he has captured in his electorate.

Mañueco has not clarified whether he is in favor of calling an extraordinary congress in the PP and has relied on "loyalty" and "respect" not to pronounce on the positions that his party must take to resolve this confrontation.

Nor has he wanted to "deepen" his assessment of the concentration of thousands of people this Sunday before the national headquarters of the PP, on Génova street in Madrid, and has reiterated his consideration for Casado and Ayuso for not indicating who he thinks is leading reason.
