An earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale hit Tekirdag, northwest Turkey, followed by a 4.1-magnitude quake a few kilometers away, with no casualties or damage reported.
The Anadolu Agency quoted the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) as saying in a statement that a 4.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Marmara Sea in Tekirdag, at a depth of 7 km below sea level, 6.25 km away from Sharkkoy in the aforementioned state.
The statement added that another quake of magnitude 4 preceded that quake and occurred off Dacha in the western state of Mugla, at a depth of 29.26 km and 39.71 km from Dacha district.
Turkey is among the most seismically active regions in the world as it is located on many active fault lines and has witnessed many earthquakes and earthquakes in the past.
