The Biden administration this evening (Monday) rejected the criticism voiced by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in his speech last night on the emerging nuclear agreement.

A spokesman for the US State Department told Walla!

Because the most senior figures in the Israeli defense establishment at the time of retirement from the nuclear agreement believe that this was a mistake.

"We must not make the same mistake again and postpone another opportunity for diplomatic progress," he said.

In his speech yesterday, Bennett came out against the emerging agreement with Iran and revealed details from the talks taking place in Vienna.

Among other things, Bennett claimed that Iran was demanding from the United States as a condition of return to the agreement to remove the Revolutionary Guards from the list of terrorist organizations in the United States government.

"We are looking at Vienna, and we are very disturbed by what we are seeing," the prime minister said.

"For Israel and for all the stability-seeking forces in the Middle East, the emerging deal could create a more violent and less stable Middle East."

"We believe that diplomacy alongside coordination with our allies in the region is the best way to achieve this goal," he said.

"Mutual return to the nuclear deal is the best diplomatic way to ensure that Iran does not have nuclear weapons."

A U.S. State Department spokesman responded to Bennett's remarks by stressing that a number of former senior members of the Israeli defense establishment, including "those who were in the most senior positions," had publicly stated that the Trump administration's decision to withdraw from the nuclear deal had dire consequences.
