Bad Wiessee – Wiessee has been a recognized health resort since 1922 and bears the title of Bad.

There will be a corona-compliant summer party for the 100th anniversary.

In 2022, it was 100 years ago that Bad Wiessee received the title of spa and was classified as a health resort.

This is now celebrated.

Instead of the lake festival, there will be a multi-day summer festival at the beginning of July and three open days in the iodine-sulphur bath - and a world premiere.

"In the middle of the corona pandemic in 2021, we started to think about whether we should celebrate at all and finally to plan how we can do it," explains Mayor Robert Kühn.

"Now there is a small, fine 100-year celebration that can perhaps serve as a blueprint for other festivals in the area." It has been found that it does not always have to be bigger.

A festival for the residents of the Tegernsee valley and the people in the Miesbach district is now to be created.

Corona-compliant concerts

June 30th is actually Bad Wiessee's birthday, explains Peter Rie, who is responsible for events at Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT).

"Corona will also accompany us this summer," he says.

"That's why we want to do something that we're on the safe side with."

So the planned concerts will take place in a rather manageable framework.

800 tickets in the seating area will initially go on sale.

Another 400 to 500 can be added in an unseated area.

"In our view, the upper limit of 1,300 to 1,400 people is feasible," explains Peter Rie, "even if there are access restrictions such as 2G or 3G."

In order to be able to control everything, the lake promenade, where the concerts take place, will be closed off for the summer festival.

The game is played on the big stage, which is also used at the lake festivals.

The ticket for the ABBA tribute on July 1 costs 30 euros, for the two concerts on July 2 together 30 euros, emphasizes Peter Rie.

There is also a world premiere with the concert by "Perlseer & Trovasur", because this formation has never played live together.

Laser show instead of fireworks at Tegernsee

Sustainability also plays a major role, explains Mayor Robert Kühn.

On the one hand, the issue is addressed by allowing fewer visitors, and on the other hand it plays a role in the sale of food and drinks.

"We will not use plastic dishes, but porcelain," he says.

For a deposit, even if that means more work for the restaurateurs.

Instead of fireworks, there will be an environmentally friendly laser show.

In addition, a shopping Sunday is planned for July 3, during which the whole town and the shops will be decorated with mobiles designed to mark the 100th anniversary.

Photo book about Bad Wiessee

Last but not least, a high-quality illustrated book is planned that will tell the eventful history of the town of Bad Wiessee in a well-researched manner and at the same time make you want to look to the future.

After all, there are some major projects in the coming years, such as the new construction of the bathing park, which will continue to change the community.

"The book is the result of our own work with our archivist," explains the mayor.

"It will be available in the tourist information and in the town hall." The edition should also remain rather manageable.

How many of the illustrated books will actually be printed has not yet been finally determined.
