Documentation: 40 prisoners blew up a wall - and escaped from prison / 26/01/2016 (story system checked)

Over 600 people have volunteered to become inmates at a new prison about to open in Zurich, Switzerland's largest city.

The innovative prison, which will be close to the main train station and can accommodate up to 124 prisoners, will be occupied by "test residents" from March 24 to 27.

What does this actually mean?

These people will have only limited access to the world where in the open they will only be allowed to take short walks in the yard and eat the prison food during the period - just like "Big Brother", only instead of living in a fancy house - they will live in a prison cell.

But that's not all, the probationers will have to undergo both simplifications and physical examinations, just as the inmates will undergo - with no discounts.

The New York Post reported that volunteers will not be able to bring in cell phones or other electronic devices and any participant will need to pass a security clearance and will have to undergo checks similar to airport checks.

If it is too difficult for them - each volunteer will also receive a "word of confidence" that he can tell the staff to rescue him from there immediately if he regrets or starts to break down because of the conditions.

Surprisingly for this project many more people volunteered than the prison could accommodate.

The trial, which is set to take place next month, is designed to allow guards to test the prison's capabilities, services and operations, as well as to test their cooperation and communication with other authorities, such as the police and prosecutors.

They also hope the exercise will help them understand what they see as "misconceptions about how guards, guards and other workers operate in such facilities."

Mark Ayrman, one of the directors of the prison, warned the volunteers not to expect to arrive at a "holiday village".

He added that this experiment was designed to ensure the proper functioning of the prison on a daily basis.

The idea of running a prison pilot has been praised by prisoners as well as volunteers, who will feel once (at least) in life what it is like to live in prison conditions.
