From the point of view of Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann, the mask requirement in schools and daycare centers could be over after the Easter holidays.
"It's possible," said the Green politician on Tuesday in Stuttgart.
"It's not like I would rule that out." The first day of school after the Easter holidays is April 25th.
After the break due to the holidays, life takes place more outdoors anyway, which is why such a relaxation is conceivable.
Stuttgart – When asked whether the mask requirement could be lifted as early as March 20th, when most of the corona requirements are no longer applicable, Kretschmann said: “No, I don’t see that now.” However, he cannot yet say what is in one month is.
"I'm only prime minister and not a prophet."
In fact, the mask requirement in schools and daycare centers could fall as early as mid-March.
The reason for this is that the nationwide legal basis for the Corona requirements expires on March 20th.
If the traffic light government does not bring about a new decision in the Bundestag by then, the federal states can no longer enact protective measures.
It is not yet clear what a possible opening clause might contain.

However, Kretschmann assumes that the federal states can at least continue to make masks compulsory.
"No one has suggested that the toolbox be emptied," said the Green Prime Minister.
He also urges schools to continue testing regularly, at least until Easter.
The state government decided on Tuesday that the tests should continue until Easter.
