Monday, February 21, five initiators of a
column published in Le Monde
and denouncing the status of women in the political sphere announced the launch of an Observatory of sexist and sexual violence in politics.
The goal?
Impose this theme in the electoral debate to try to change the problem.

Through this observatory, Alice Coffin, Hélène Goutany, Madeline Da Silva, Fiona Texeire and Mathilde Viot wish to "
facilitate actions aimed at promoting the place of women in public life
".
To do this, they have formulated several concrete measures, starting with a ban on holding important public office in the event of an indictment for acts of sexist or sexual violence against a candidate for a national election.
"
We obviously have in mind
the example of Georges Tron
, imprisoned in Health because he was condemned definitively for rape on a person who worked in his town hall, and who is still a municipal councilor
", reported during the conference Fiona Texeire , councilor at the town hall of Paris.
The five initiators also denounced the "
sexism against female political journalists
", referring to the very tense exchange between Apolline de Malherbe and Gérald Darmanin, where many saw implicit sexism.
They would also like to strengthen the right of “
whistleblowers who denounce sexist and sexual violence
”, who can be victims
of “intimidation
”.
For this, the Observatory "will
challenge in the coming days the candidates for the presidential election on their position on these subjects
", warns the press release.
According to Mathilde Viot, testimonies are already reaching them from "
all parties
".
