The lowest temperature recorded at the Observatory headquarters was 9.2 degrees, while Ngong Ping became the coldest area in Hong Kong, which once dropped to a low temperature of 4.2 degrees.
The strong winter monsoon will continue to bring cold weather in the next two to three days.
The Observatory predicts that there will be rain and cold tomorrow morning, and the urban area will see as low as 9 degrees. Some areas in the New Territories may reach severe cold levels (7 degrees Celsius or below), and the icy weather is expected to remain until Friday (25th).
Four sunny days in a row from Thursday
Although the weather will still be cold for many days, the high-altitude disturbance affecting southern China will be far away tomorrow. The Observatory expects that there will be sunshine for part of the afternoon tomorrow, and it will be sunny for four consecutive days from the next day.
Returning heat this weekend between 15 and 20 degrees
The monsoon will gradually ease later this week, the temperature along the coast of Guangdong will gradually rise, and the temperature difference between day and night will be large.
The Observatory predicts that the maximum temperature in the urban area will rise to 20 degrees on Saturday, with a temperature difference of about 5 degrees between day and night, and there will continue to be sunshine next week.
Entering March, the Observatory is expected to have one or two showers of rain, which will continue to be warm.
