US stocks | Dow fell more than 700 points as Russia withdraws diplomats from Ukraine

The Dow pared losses to around 300 points after the U.S. announced further sanctions on Russia.


[04:10] The US sanctions against Russia were within expectations, and the decline of the three major indexes narrowed significantly.

The Dow fell 329 points, or 0.97%, to 33,749 points; the benchmark index fell 19 points, or 0.45%, to 4,329 points; the Nasdaq Composite fell 47 points, or 0.35%, to 13,500 points.

[03:40] US President Biden announced comprehensive sanctions on two Russian financial institutions and blocked the circulation of Russian sovereign bonds in European and American markets.

The Dow fell 551 points, or 1.62%, to 33,528 points; the benchmark index fell 56 points, or 1.29%, to 4,292 points; the Nasdaq fell 200 points, or 1.48%, to 13,347 points.

Popular Chinese concept stocks generally fell, Bilibili fell nearly 8%, and Pinduoduo and Alibaba fell more than 4%.

Hong Kong stocks rose 93 points to 23,666 in the night futures, a 146-point premium to water.
