The toll of the torrential rains that devastated a large part of the Brazilian city of Petropolis (southeast) has exceeded 200 dead, authorities announced on Wednesday February 23, while firefighters continued to search for dozens of missing people.

According to the latest report from the police, 51 people are still missing, a figure which has decreased in recent days, as bodies have been identified or families have found relatives safe and sound.
