(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 23 - Over 50 university professors from all over the world lash out against the obligations and the green pass in force in Italy and in the university world, with a letter in which they say they are "scandalized" and "particularly concerned about academic freedom" imposed on students, faculty and staff.

The letter of the international professors based on the historical assumption of the Italian university as guarantor, for 900 years, of reception, protection, freedom and mobility of teachers: "precisely for this reason discrimination in Italian universities, a beacon of civilization for many, acquires a dangerous symbolic value for all of us".

International solidarity has come from foreign teachers and intellectuals - from the Universities of New York, Cambridge, Melbourne, Buenos Aires, California (Santa Barbara), Amsterdam and many other countries - who consider the social discrimination introduced with the greenpass to be "unjust and illegitimate. which limits many of the basic human freedoms. "

In fact, teachers say they are "scandalized that most of the academic bodies can allow such discrimination".

Among the signatories also the French philosopher Barbara Stiegler, who in her recent text, Democracy in pandemic, appeals to the spirit of the University as a place for dialogue and doubt, thanks to which one could "make this 'pandemic', but also health and the future of life, not what suspends, but what appeals to democracy ".

"We express great concern for the management of the pandemic emergency in progress and for the consequences that this has already had and may have on the life of the population, starting from the world of universities and schools. We are particularly concerned about academic freedom which is a pillar of the rule of law and a manifestation of the highest human dignity. Academic freedom means freedom to teach,
