Hausham – There is currently not a single charging station for e-cars in Hausham.

Together with Energie Südbayern GmbH, this is about to change.

According to experts, the calculated need for publicly accessible e-charging stations in the municipality of Hausham is currently 50. In fact, there is currently not a single one.

That is why the municipal councils were informed about the topic.

Provided with the broad tenor from the committee that the expansion of the charging infrastructure is actually not the task of the municipalities, four charging stations on municipal property were finally shortlisted.

A decision has not yet been made.

Although, as Mayor Jens Zangenfeind emphasized, e-mobility will continue to gain momentum in the next few years, it will not be the sole driving force of the future: "I think the mix makes it.

We should therefore take a middle course and therefore enter e-mobility with an open mind.” However, he made no secret of the fact that expanding the charging infrastructure required for this cannot be a mandatory task: “Selling electricity is not our core competence.”

Energie Südbayern advises Hausham

Josef Lipp from Energie Südbayern (ESB) presented what a charging infrastructure in Hausham could look like.

Based on the number of inhabitants, the municipality would need 50 charging stations.

To start with, Lipp suggested six double normal charging stations and one fast charging station at the Edeka car park.

The committee was finally able to make friends with four locations: town hall, train station, alpine inn and Anton Weilmaier school.

As an all-round service package, ESB would operate the charging stations on a sharing basis.

This package includes construction and operation including maintenance and billing.

The municipality would have to bear half of the procurement costs for this.

As Lipp said, these are around 20,000 euros for a double normal charging station, for which there is a grant of up to 10,000 euros depending on the funding program.

Charging stations first have to establish themselves

Georg Eham (independent) wanted to know whether the municipality would only be an investor or whether there would also be a refund.

Experience has shown that this cannot be assumed at first, said Lipp: “The charging points first have to establish themselves.

After two or three years, however, things can look very different and the contract can be reorganized.”

The transparent reporting, which is also made available to the municipality on a monthly basis, helps here.

"If the demand goes through the roof unexpectedly early or additional pillars pay off, I'll be the first to let you know," promised Lipp.

Customers only want one app or card

When asked by Mayor Jens Zangenfeind, Lipp advised against the municipality running its own charging stations: "It's possible, but then Hausham would be a small provider and would also have to take care of the billing." The expert pointed out that that this is unattractive for many customers because they would rather pay everywhere with just one app or card.

Informed in this way, the head of the town hall said that the municipality was quite willing to make charging easier for the electricians: “We are now thinking intensively and will get in touch.

We should already have more than zero charging stations in the future.”
