President Herzog's visit to Greece is the right move - the wrong way.
Herzog arrives in Athens, and then in Nicosia, to make it clear to these two important companies of ours that an Israeli rapprochement with Turkey will not come at their expense.
The message is true, but arrived late.
The preliminary visits to Greece and Cyprus were born only after Jerusalem realized the magnitude of the pressure that had accumulated in them as a result of the process of thawing relations between Israel and Turkey - the historical enemy of the two countries.
For a decade, they have been building an alliance with Israel, getting closer and closer to it.
And here, one smile from the direction of Sultan Erdogan, and already Israel wanted into his arms.
The question arose among them, and rightly so, whether Israel could be trusted.
In Jerusalem, it is repeatedly emphasized that improving relations with Turkey will not come at the expense of Greece and Cyprus.

The emphasis is important, but the fervor with which Israel's rapprochement with Turkey is being conducted raises doubts as to whether this is indeed the case.
There is no denying that President Erdogan is antisemitic, fickle and uncontrollable.
He is now courting Herzog because of severe hardships - internal and external.
But how will he handle the next confrontation between Israel and Hamas?
Egypt and Saudi Arabia, too, not to mention the United States, are in conflict with Erdogan. Intermediate? Are not measured steps better, trust builders?
Israel should prefer Greece and Cyprus over Turkey.
Good two songbirds in hand, trampled one on the tree.
They are reliable, stable, friendly, and value partners - everything that can not be said about Erdogan.
