Parliament adopted this Wednesday, February 23, a cross-partisan bill to extend the legal duration of abortion from 12 to 14 weeks, after a final vote by the National Assembly.

At the initiative of an opposition MP, the text which began its winding parliamentary journey in October 2020 was definitively adopted with the support of LREM by 135 votes for, 47 against and 9 abstentions.
The bill which aims to improve the effectiveness of the right to abortion is "
faithful to the fight for the emancipation of women
", welcomed the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.
