The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued an official protest against Greece, which it accuses of causing an incident in the Aegean Sea, during which a Turkish fisherman was injured, diplomatic sources reported on Wednesday.

The Undersecretary of the Greek Embassy was summoned to the ministry regarding a Turkish citizen injured during Greek Coast Guard fire against two Turkish fishing boats
," the sources told the press.
Turkey has issued a protest against Greece for "
disproportionate use of force
" and demanded an end to "
interventions and harassment
" against Turkish fishermen.
The incident occurred on Tuesday in the north of the island of Chios, according to the same sources.
Turkish authorities did not provide details on the injured fisherman's condition.
Turkey regularly accuses Greece of pushing back migrants trying to reach European shores through its waters.

Last week, Athens was blamed for the deaths of two migrants thrown overboard by its coastguard - which Greek authorities have denied.
The UN denounced Monday a "
normalization
" of the illegal refoulement of refugees at the borders of Europe and mentioned in particular the land and maritime borders of Greece with Turkey.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says it has recorded around 540 informal returns from Greece since the start of 2020.
