After activists glued themselves to the driveway to Munich Airport on Wednesday, they are planning another campaign for next Friday.

Munich Airport – The protest action at the airport on Wednesday, in which activists stuck their hands to driveways, should not have been the last.

On Thursday, the group "The Last Generation" announced that it would again disrupt operations at several German airports on Friday.

Protest action at the airport: balloons are supposed to disrupt air traffic

Activist Miriam Meyer explained that she would "come into the security zone of Berlin Airport with balloons and thus bring air traffic to a standstill".

She added: "Similarly, other food rescuers in Frankfurt (...) and in Munich will enter the radius around the airport with balloons." It will be communicated in advance where the balloons will fly, "so that there is no danger." .

The activists call themselves food savers because they are calling for a law against throwing away food.

They are also concerned with saving the climate - the group "The Last Generation" assumes "tipping points" in three to four years, after which the climate can no longer be saved and famine will break out.

Interior Minister calls the announcement "highly dangerous"

It is not known whether the people who blocked two access roads to the freight terminal for a short time on Wednesday will take action again on Friday.

"We don't want to talk about who does it," said Ernst Hörmann (72) from Freising, the senior in the group.

There is an alarm at Munich Airport.

The police will protect the airport "with increased attention", it is said.

Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) called the announcement "highly dangerous".

She was also irresponsible “in view of the war in Ukraine”.

The airport must be prepared "that we will support the countries bordering Ukraine with humanitarian aid."

It's not okay to disrupt air traffic while others are trying to provide assistance.

Activist Hörmann is not impressed by the appeal.

The “last generation” wanted “to force a standstill for a short time, we are not doing society any favors if we do not carry out the action”.

Hörmann did not want to say whether he would take part himself.
