In a conversation with Noticias Telemundo, Coronel's lawyer, Mariel Colón, spoke about the circumstances of her client's confinement, who

"She is clearly crazy about leaving where she is and being able to return to her girls, she always mentions her girls to me," said Colón, who has not yet been able to see her client since she was transferred to Fort Worth.
Although family and friends visits are allowed in the Forth Worth minimum security prison, due to the coronavirus pandemic they have been suspended indefinitely, the lawyer explained to reporter Edgar Muñoz.

Coronel, 32, was sentenced to 36 months in prison in November last year for the crimes of conspiracy to distribute drugs and help launder
El Chapo
's millions of dollars obtained from drug trafficking.
Due to the time he has already spent in custody in a Virginia prison and other unspecified locations for his own safety, Coronel could be paroled in May 2023.

He plans to change and rebuild his life
The wife of one of the most wanted men in the United States, the ex-capo of the Sinaloa Cartel, has not seen her husband since he was extradited to the United States in 2017, Colón said.
"That she is the wife of Mr. Guzmán, that is something that can never be erased... I understand that she does not want to erase it, obviously she loves her husband very much, but that is not why we should cross her out," said the lawyer.
"She has the right to change, she has the right to make mistakes and she has the right to rebuild her life,"
he added.

Meanwhile,
El Chapo
's lawyers were unsuccessful when they appealed Judge Brian Cogan's sentence of life plus 30 years in prison in New York in 2019.
The Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit of New York dismissed the petition of the former Sinaloa capo in January, confirming his sentence in the super maximum security prison in Florence, Colorado, where he spends his days practically in complete isolation.
