It is eagerly awaited whether the USA could agree on further sanctions with the other G7 countries and whether the USA itself will take further steps against Putin's Russia*.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Biden under fire at home

In times of crisis in the USA, there is usually something like a truce in political Washington.

But this rule has apparently no longer applied since the Trump era at the latest.

Ex-President Donald Trump and other Republicans are currently busily spinning the story that Putin only dared this total attack on Ukraine because of the weak-looking new US administration.

So if Biden doesn't want to make himself even more vulnerable to these accusations, which are getting louder and louder, he has to show a clear edge now.

Although nobody currently assumes that Biden will threaten Russia militarily.
