A young woman was found dead in the Pfrombach hydroelectric power station near Moosburg on Wednesday.

Now the police are investigating the identity and the circumstances of the accident.

- It was routine work that employees of the hydroelectric power station in Pfrombach (Moosburg city, Freising district) wanted to carry out on the middle Isar canal on Wednesday morning.

But when the water was drained from the intake basin, which was to be cleaned, the staff suddenly noticed something unusual between the usual driftwood at around 7:30 a.m.

They picked up the phone and called the fire department.

The Pfrombach-Aich volunteer fire brigade moved to the power plant with the initially neutrally formulated mission “Recovery of an object” and the two of them climbed down ladders around eight meters into the inspection tank.

The forces were supported by members of the Moosburg water rescue service.

The Langenpreising volunteer fire brigade from the neighboring district of Erding had meanwhile set out to secure the area from the water side.

Arriving at the bottom of the pool, bad fears turned into sad certainty: the find was the corpse of a young woman.

The dead was finally carried to the top with the help of a basket stretcher and a mobile crane.

Police officers took over there.

Because there was no information about the identity of the woman and the circumstances of her death, the Kripo Erding took over the investigation.

As a spokeswoman for the police headquarters in Oberbayern Nord told the Freisinger Tagblatt, the investigations are still ongoing.

It remains to be seen whether an autopsy will be ordered.

"We are now comparing the missing persons databases and using all other options available to us for identification," said the spokeswoman.

The tragic deployment scenario left its mark on the helpers.

"Unfortunately, such cases are part of our job," says Tobias Huber, deputy chairman of the Moosburg water rescue service.

"And unfortunately, the drowning accidents have increased in recent years, in which we had to recover the dead - for example in the case at the Anglberger Weiher or on rivers in the area." classify his troops as professionally as possible.

"For such salvage work, we look for extra people who say in advance that they can handle it."
